Snowmageddon!!!

We are witnessing the making of history in Northern Virginia this winter. We have gotten over
3 1/2 feet of snow in 2 massive storms, the first in December and the most recent one this weekend. This has never happened since the 1800's ;) How lucky are we to be here now!!

It all started Tuesday when a weather watch was issued for Friday and Saturday speculating 12-18 inches of snow. Thursday it turned into a weather warning with a prediction of 18-24 inches between Friday and Saturday. Friday morning we woke up to a MASSIVE weather warning with 24-30 inches of snow within a 48 hour period. Everything started to close down around noon and we all got off of work. YEAH!

Back track a little; on Thursday Morgan and I decided to go check out the stores as we had heard that people ransack them when a storm moves in thinking its the end of the world. The first store we went to we couldn't find a parking spot at ALL. Every stall was filled and even some illegal parking here and there. We luckily found 1 parking stall at the next store after driving around for about 20 minutes. This is what we saw in the store:

Everything looked like this. There was NO produce, all the onions, potatoes, everything was gone! The lines went half way down every aisle and we stood in line for a good 30 minutes. Morgan heard one woman calling the storm "Snowmageddon"! hehe We had a good time witnessing the "ransacking!"

Sure enough we got about 30 inches of snow between Friday-noon to Saturday about 5 pm. This is what our parking lots looks like:

There is a car in there somewhere!

After the storm we got all bundled up in our levis and tennis shoes (we didn't bring any winter clothing because people said it never snowed) we grabbed our broom and mop bucket and headed out to dig our car out. It took about 2 hours but we made it. Here are some pictures during the process:
